Keywords are Essential in a Modern Day Resume

Keywords are essential in a modern day resume.  Twenty years ago, if someone had mentioned  keywords in connection with a resume they would have received a blank stare.  The word was not in common use before computers and  the Internet became a part of our daily lives.  Now keywords are strategic elements utilized by the professional resume writer to get their clients noticed and get them interviews.

These days many, if not most people apply for jobs electronically.  Job boards like Monster, Career Builder, Hotjobs and others that are general or specialized, regional or national, have become the job search tool of choice for thousands and thousands of job seekers.  The old fashioned hard copy resume isn’t used nearly as much as it once was, and even when it is used, HR departments routinely scan resumes into databases, and then search for keywords that relate to the position and its requirements.

One of the skills that a professional resume writer, or a professional resume writing service brings to the table for the job seeker is an ability to determine which keywords will help the job seeker the most, and where they should be placed in the resume.  Hiring a professional will take the guesswork out of which keywords you should use.
