Interview Tips

What to Take With You To a C-Level Interview

09.13.07 | Comment?

When interviewing for a C level or executive position, there are a few things you should take with you that people interviewing for lower level jobs don’t need.First of all, if you’re applying for a C level position, you almost certainly have participated in a number of projects that resulted in something being published or funded.  Whether books, reports, project outlines, marketing strategies or business plans, there will be documents with your name on them.  Take these with you to show interviewers what you’ve done. Also in addition to the obvious resume, take any videos, DVDs or other instructional materials in which you’ve had a hand.  It’s best to have multiple copies of these on hand so that you can leave examples with the interviewer.  If you have to, photocopy some documents in order to be able to do this, do it.  Being able to leave examples of your work is important.Having “hard copies” that demonstrate your past achievements and accomplishments gives you a leg up on your competitors for the position and shows interviewers you are every bit as accomplished as you say you are.Remember that anything you take, you should be prepared to leave behind. The interviewer does not want to use valuable interview time to review materials.
