Personal Branding: A Must Have Skill for Any Successful Business Leader

10.18.07 | Comment?

Personal branding is a must-have skill for any successful business leader.  When you think of yourself like a brand, such as brand leaders Coke, Pepsi or Nike, you are on your way to defining yourself and your own terms.

Figure out what makes you different and make sure your answer grabs you and anyone you share it with.  If it doesn’t grab you, it’s time to develop yourself and realize your assets and full potential.  Remember, you are not defined by your job description or your title – you are defined by your capabilities and talents.

What makes you stand out?  What features and benefits do you offer than other can’t match?  Consider your unique talents and make them your brand.  Consider what you have accomplished that makes you want to brag then shamelessly take credit for it.

Once you have defined yourself, create a pitch to sell yourself.  Do some moonlighting, volunteer, introduce yourself to new people, freelance or teach a class to become known as an expert.  Be powerful, show loyalty and indicate you are growing and changing for a better future.  Your pitch is essential because it encourages people to choose you.

To be a successful leader, learn more about personal branding and how it can improve your image and your prospects.
